Punta Cana

Punta Cana is the destination in the Dominican Republic for tourism with 2,406,709 passengers (61.34% of all arrivals to the Dominican Republic) arriving at Punta Cana International Airport in 2012.

The entire tip of the east coast of the Dominican Republic, which is commonly known as “Punta Cana”, actually consists of many different areas – Cap Cana, Cabeza de Toro, Bávaro, Los Corales, El Cortecito, Friusa, Arena Gorda, Macao and Uvero Alto.

The actual Punta Cana is only a small area, which consists of the airport, Puntacana Resort & Club (Puntacana Hotel, Tortuga Bay Hotel, La Cana golf course, Corales golf course and villa/residential areas) and Puntacana Village (shops, supermarket and restaurants).

The area has more than 40 resorts, which all fill up during the high season from November to May and especially for Christmas/New Year’s and Easter where getting a hotel room at the last minute is virtually impossible. Resorts include e.g. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, Majestic, Ocean Blue & Sand, Paradisus, Melia Caribe Tropical, Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort, Catalonia, Puntacana Resort & Club, Sanctuary Cap Cana, Eden Roc at Cap Cana and many, many more.

Punta Cana is a fun destination that offers a variety of excursions for tourists. Of course there is great fishing – both in-shore and deep sea. Boats go out daily all year round (if the weather allows), twice a day and from several different locations, including BávaroPunta Cana and Cap Cana.

Other popular excursions include Zip Linessnorkelingcatamaran cruisesATVs/Buggies and golf. Punta Cana is one of the most popular golf destinations in the Caribbean and Punta Cana alone has 9 golf courses within 30 minutes of each other.

Fishermen coming to Punta Cana during the months of high season (November through May) should be aware that the boats fill up – fast! Advance reservations are therefore highly recommendable.

      Hi Angela Marie,

Thank you for your message. We do have shared fishing trips available daily but ONLY in Bavaro (Punta Cana). The boats go out in the morning and afternoon – if the weather is good, of course. Price is US$ 115 per person. If you look at the website, under Punta Cana – Boats, you can look at the boats INTRIPIDO, LOS VINCHI, and SHEKINAH. These are the 3 boats that we offer shared trips on. Please let me know if you want to go, when, how many persons you’ll be, and which hotel you’re staying at. The price include round trip transportation (from Bavaro/Punta Cana hotels – some hotels may not be included). You can also email me directly at ab@grouppalmera.com

      Best regards,
      Capt. Anders.
